Butterfly HIll

Dear friends and family,
What a day!  We started out this morning with our children and went and visited Butterfly Hill.  It is absolute paradise.  We've had our children here at Daddy's home since we arrived in Vijayawada on Tuesday.  They are incredible and have unbelievable and manners and respect and love for us.
We have taken the 158 school shopping and tomorrow morning we will take the 167 school shopping.  It is so much fun but lots of work to shop for 100 children.
V and E, I had asked if Jaswanthi could spend the weekend with us as well as my sisters Thriveni.  Thriveni ended up in the hospital with a serious infection in her eye and it was a blessing that we had her here at Daddy's home so that she could get help right away. Jaswanthi is one of the sweetest girls we've ever met.  I was telling her about you V and E and said that you have two dogs and she said yes yes Duncan and Guffman.  She loved your gifts so much.
Tonight, we had to bring the kids back to school.  We totally feel like our hearts were ripped right out of our chests.
Yesterday, we were able to go visit Rajesh's home.  He had all of the things we sent him on his shelf in his 2 room 8X12 home that his family struggles to pay the $300 yearly rent.

I better go,
talk to you soon,
Lori and the rest

Words cannot describe!!!

I don't even know where to start.  We are having the trip of a lifetime.  Carol arranged for our children to greet us at the airport in Vijayawada.  They placed a beautiful flower lei around our necks and our tears kept them watered.  It was a short drive to Daddy's Home holding hands with our children.  They were all so happy to see us.  That night (Thurs)  they had the most spectacular celebration with dancers etc.
I will write more later as the battery is almost out.
We are spending the whole time with our children which is great.

Love you,
Kavya Curtis Elise Emma Jacob Truman

We Made it!!

We landed in Hyderabad on Thurs. at 1:00 am and spent the rest of the night at a nice hotel here.
We are getting ready to fly to Vijayawada, in a 20 passenger propeller plane with our 1000 lbs
worth of luggage.
Everything is going very smoothly.  The flights weren't bad at all.  Just very dry and we drank lots and lots of water.  We are being taken care of very well.

We'll write more again when we get to Hyderabad.

m-m-m-m chocolate

Greetings from Amsterdam!! We are sleepy- with a 7 hour lay-over and it is 2:00am wisconsin time/ 9:00a.m. here. We went and found a beautiful store with Belgian chocolates to try to keep us awake and guarding our lugguge... m-m-m-m creamy... ( sorry Hersheys) Our send-off was joyful and meaningful as we received heartfelt prayers, hugs and teasing. We are practicing our Telegu with Raj who is traveling with us ( Julie's family friend) He is EXTREMELY patient and funny. We are resisting the urge to buy yellow wooden clogs for Halloween. We will post again soon, Dear Ones. May God's love and peace surround you today. Love and Laughter, The Groovy Girls

You do the Math

OK,
We have 400 lbs of luggage for 3 of us to take and there are 7 of us traveling. So is that like 1000 lbs for 7?
Our personal items probably weigh 50lbs total for the 3 of us, the rest are wonderful donations from so many. Including 63 lbs of medical supplies from MAPS.
Can't wait to deliver.

Beanies beanies everywhere

A dear friend just donated almost her entire collection of beanie babies to the children of India. At least 50 of them. I was at my limit for poundage and thought of a solution. I asked her if she had a medium size suitcase that I could use. Walla!! Everything has a way of working out. I was just planning to use a small one for my 15 lb worth of clothes and personal items. I want to thank everyone for sharing this joy with me and adopting these kiddos as one of your own.

I am thrilled at the possibility that I will be able to share our experience each day while in India. Thank you V and double A sisters for suggesting this.

If you get a chance watch the 3-4 min. mini clips on youtube.

In need of sponsors or donations

This whole blogging thing is new for me but thought I'd give it a whirl. As many of you know I am a volunteer for Care and Share and soon I'll be leaving with friends to visit our sponsor children. Please check out the website below which shows the children who are still available for sponsorship at the two schools that we will be traveling to. We'd like to buy sheets and towels for the 280 girls at the one school and we are trying to raise funds to do that. If you would like to sponsor a child or donate to a wonderful worthy cause please contact me.

It costs only $300 per year to change the life of a child.
